Exciting schedule of free activities and social events for people aged 55+
An exciting schedule of free events and activities for people aged 55+ has been unveiled in Stafford Borough and south Staffordshire. ReConnected talks, workshops and meetings are taking place in community centres, village halls and other easy-to-reach venues in these areas.
Backed by the National Lottery Community Fund, ReConnected provides opportunities for people aged 55+ to get together, get active and get involved.
With activities as varied as researching your family tree, crafts, exercise, practical engineering challenges and even a murder mystery event, ReConnected is providing opportunities to develop new skills and interests and above all, have fun.
ReConnected activities have been chosen by local residents who took part in a series of consultations earlier this year.
“Thank you to everyone who took the time to tell us what kind of activities you would like to see in your neighbourhood,” said Jo Smith, the operations manager for customer engagement and support, at Care Plus. “We are excited to be able to offer something different for people aged over 55 in Stafford Borough and south Staffordshire. ReConnected activities are conveniently located, friendly, welcoming and most importantly – free.”
As well as arranging events and activities, ReConnected is providing a phone line for people who find it difficult to get out and meet people. The team will keep in touch with regular calls to relieve isolation and build confidence. They can also provide advice for callers who are completing forms, making applications, thinking about support in later life or finding out whether they might be eligible for benefits.
Don’t miss out. Take a look at all the great events and activities taking place on the ReConnected schedule and find out how to get involved here.
