Special visitors to Vine Court

Vine Court, the retirement living community in Cannock, has welcomed some special visitors from Birmingham Dogs Home.

Residents and staff have been collecting blankets, toys and for the dogs cared for by Birmingham Dogs Home. Vicky Jones, who works at the centre, dropped-in to collect the goodies and personally thank the kind-hearted community for their generosity. Naturally, when her dog Bernie heard what was happening, he wanted to come along, too.

Four-year-old Bernie knows the importance of home comforts to the dogs in the centre because he lived there before persuading Vicky to adopt him.

"Bernie and I really wanted to come along to thank everyone at Vine Court for their donations," said Vicky. "Each year we rescue around 2,700 dogs, reuniting lost animals with their families and finding new homes for at least 2,000 dogs. We are a local organisation covering South Staffordshire and the West Midlands. It means a lot to have the support of people who live in this area."

Dave Attwooll, housing and wellbeing manager at Vine Court, said that residents had enjoyed supporting the appeal. "Everyone came together to help the dogs. They loved meeting Bernie and learning more about Birmingham Dogs Home. Now we're even thinking about rehoming a dog of our own."
